1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon of water (for egg wash)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
In a medium skillet, heat a small amount of oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
Add the ground sausage to the skillet with the onions and garlic. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally. Season with oregano, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper. If using cheese, stir it in just before removing from heat.
Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to smooth it out. Cut the pastry into squares, approximately 4 inches by 4 inches.
Place a spoonful of the sausage mixture in the center of each pastry square. Be careful not to overfill.
To create the flower shape, bring the corners of the pastry to the center over the filling, pinching them together securely.
Place the flower-shaped sausage rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the egg wash.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is p■ and golden brown.
Once baked, let the sausage rolls cool for a few minutes before serving.
