Ingredients
Scale:
4 medium apples (Fuji, Honeycrisp, or Granny Smith)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons brown sugar or coconut sugar (optional)
1 cup all-purpose flour or almond flour for gluten-free version
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
½ cup yogurt or whipped cream for dipping sauce
2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup for dipping sauce
1 teaspoon vanilla extract for dipping sauce
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) if baking or set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
Wash the apples thoroughly and remove the cores.
Slice the apples into wedges or fries about ½ inch thick.
In a large bowl, toss the apple slices with lemon juice, then add the cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and sugar.
In another bowl, combine the flour and salt. In a third bowl, place the breadcrumbs.
Take each apple slice, coat it lightly in the flour mixture, then dip it into the egg wash (if using), and finally coat it in breadcrumbs.
For baking, arrange the coated apple fries on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes.
If using an air fryer, arrange the apple fries in a single layer and cook for about 10-12 minutes.
Prepare the dipping sauce by mixing yogurt, honey, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Once cooked, remove apple fries from the oven or air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving.
Serve warm with the yogurt dipping sauce on the side.
