A delicious homemade stromboli recipe filled with cheese, pepperoni, and bell peppers, wrapped in a golden crust.
Ingredients
Scale:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon instant yeast
1 teaspoon salt
¾ cup warm water (about 110°F)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup sliced pepperoni
½ cup chopped bell peppers
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon black pepper
1 egg (for egg wash)
1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, and salt. Whisk these dry ingredients together. Add warm water and olive oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
While the dough is rising, mix the mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, bell peppers, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and black pepper in a bowl.
After the dough has risen, punch it down gently and roll it out into a rectangle, about ¼ inch thick.
Spread the filling mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Roll the dough tightly and seal the edges.
Place the rolled stromboli seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush the top with beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds if desired.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5-10 minutes before slicing.
