A luscious, creamy dessert that beautifully captures the essence of fresh strawberries and ripe bananas. This no-bake dessert is easy to prepare and perfect for warm days, featuring layers of fluffy banana pudding, fresh strawberries, and whipped cream.
Ingredients
Scale:
2 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 ripe bananas, sliced
2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for strawberries)
1 cup heavy whipping cream (chilled)
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for whipped cream)
Additional sliced strawberries and banana for garnish
Instructions
In a medium bowl, combine the sliced strawberries with the 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar. Toss to coat the strawberries evenly with the sugar. Let them sit for about 15 minutes.
In a medium saucepan, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture starts to thicken and bubble, about 5-7 minutes.
Once the pudding thickens, remove it from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Allow it to cool for a few minutes while stirring occasionally.
In a large trifle dish or individual cups, start by adding a layer of banana slices at the bottom. Pour a layer of the banana pudding over the bananas.
Spoon a layer of the macerated strawberries over the pudding. Repeat the layering process until you run out of ingredients, finishing with a layer of pudding on top.
In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
Spread the whipped cream over the top layer of pudding. Garnish with additional sliced strawberries and banana if desired.
Cover the dessert with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
