Potato and Ground Beef Casserole

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and chopped onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is tender, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in the garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Adjust seasonings as desired and remove from heat.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk. Whisk until smooth.
  5. In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, half of the beef mixture, and drizzle half of the soup mixture. Repeat these layers.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  7. Combine the crushed cornflakes with melted butter and sprinkle over the cheese.
  8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until golden.
  9. Let cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
