Description
A savory casserole that combines crescent rolls and Italian sausage, topped with cheese and marinara, perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
Scale:
- 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent rolls
- 1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic herb seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Fresh basil leaves (optional)
- Extra shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned and fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes.
- In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese, garlic herb seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well blended.
- Open the cans of crescent rolls and unroll them onto a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, pressing them to cover the bottom completely.
- Spread the cooked sausage evenly over the crescent roll layer.
- Spoon the ricotta mixture over the sausage, spreading it evenly to cover.
- Pour the marinara sauce over the cheese layer, spreading it evenly, and sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese on top.
- Take the second can of crescent rolls and break them into triangles. Arrange the triangles over the top of the casserole.
- Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
- Once baked, remove the casserole from the oven and let it sit for about 5 minutes before slicing.
