Ingredients
Scale:
1 lb ground beef (preferably lean)
4 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
1 medium onion, diced
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
1 cup crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and diced onion until the meat is cooked and the onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Stir well until blended.
In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by the cooked beef mixture, half of the creamy soup mixture, and a layer of cheese. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
Mix crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs with melted butter, then sprinkle over the casserole.
Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until potatoes are tender and top is golden brown.
Let the casserole cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
