  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and diced onion until the meat is cooked and the onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Stir well until blended.
  4. In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by the cooked beef mixture, half of the creamy soup mixture, and a layer of cheese. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  5. Mix crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs with melted butter, then sprinkle over the casserole.
