This delightful frosting is not just about aesthetics; it embodies a perfect blend of sweet and tangy flavors, achieved through the use of fresh strawberries.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and puréed
1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened (optional for cream cheese frosting with strawberries)
Additional strawberries for garnish (optional)
Edible glitter for decoration (optional)
A splash of lemon juice to enhance flavor (optional)
Instructions
Prepare the Strawberries: Start by washing and hulling your fresh strawberries. Purée the strawberries until smooth, measure out 1 cup of the purée, and set aside.
Beat the Butter: In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the softened unsalted butter on medium speed until creamy and smooth, about 2 minutes.
Add the Purée: Gradually add the strawberry purée to the butter while continuing to mix on low speed until well combined.
Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Slowly add the sifted powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed. Once incorporated, increase the speed to medium and mix until fluffy.
Add Flavorings: Mix in the vanilla extract and salt. Beat until the frosting reaches a spreadable consistency.
Chill (Optional): If the frosting is too soft, place it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to firm up before using.
